Important Living Room Elements That Should Be Thoughtfully Selected

If you’ve moved, or are just redoing your home after the long pandemic with hard use of it, you’ve probably been spending time trying to figure out how to balance all of the needs of the room and your intent for it.

You know there are important elements at play which can make it easier to use for your family.

What are some important elements of a modern living room which should be carefully selected?

Wall Colors

The walls of your home are the largest design element you display, and this includes the colors you choose for walls.

Wall color should be neutral, unless adding an accent wall, but don’t despair- this doesn’t mean 90’s beige! Think of choosing a color which is gentler, in an earth tone, depending on whether your chosen accent color choices are warm or cool.

Great options are a grey with a green/gold base, or even a pale lavender. If you prefer bold colors, however, go for it!

Furniture

Good quality furniture adds style and personality to your interior design. One of the worst mistakes people make while redoing a living room is purchasing furniture which looks good temporarily, like bonded leather, but which will not only be quickly outdated, but easily destroyed.

There’s a reason this type of furniture is cheap! Instead, save up for quality pieces in your own aesthetic. In the meantime, quality second hand pieces can be functional if necessary.

Saving for and buying beautiful, well made furniture pieces will serve you well for decades, instead of a few seasons.

Beautiful Artwork

There is an art type for everyone, and just like with furniture, finding both your style and pieces to anchor walls in your home can be complicated.

You don’t need to pay thousands of dollars to buy high quality prints for your home! Original artwork is always best, because it carries with it some of the energy and love the artist has put into it.

However, don’t forget to look outside of the box—even framed fabrics, scarves, or textured tiles can be excellent artworks.

Don’t be worried about what is on trend as much as what speaks to you directly.

Authentic home design which displays your aesthetic and personality is always better than stale and sterile copies of someone else’s ideas. Display things you love and colors you enjoy, and you can’t go wrong!
